Soft Washing vs. Pressure Washing
Both have their place. Here's how we decide which one your property needs.
The benefits of soft washing
Soft washing uses low water pressure combined with a cleaning solution instead of brute force. It's the right call for anything that can be damaged by high pressure: roofs, stucco, painted siding, wood, screens and windows.
Because the solution kills algae, mold and mildew at the root rather than just blasting the visible growth off the surface, soft-washed surfaces generally stay clean longer than surfaces that only get a high-pressure rinse. How long depends on shade, moisture and nearby trees.
The dangers of pressure washing the wrong surface
High-pressure washing is the fastest, most effective tool for what it's built for: hard, durable surfaces like concrete, pavers and sidewalks. But used on the wrong surface, that same pressure can strip paint, gouge wood, crack windows, lift roof tiles, or force water behind siding where it causes hidden damage.
That's why we don't use one setting for the whole property — the right approach changes surface by surface.
How we decide
- Roofs, house siding, stucco, fences and screened enclosures — soft wash
- Driveways, sidewalks, pool decks and concrete — pressure wash
- Every job gets the method matched to the material, not a one-size-fits-all setting

Soft wash vs. pressure wash
A quick reference for which method is actually right for each surface.
| Soft Washing | Pressure Washing | |
|---|---|---|
| Removes dirt, dust and pollen | ✓ | ✓ |
| Removes algae, mold and mildew at the root | ✓ | ~ |
| Safe for vinyl and painted siding | ✓ | ✕ |
| Gentle on wood (no gouging) | ✓ | ~ |
| Safe for stucco | ✓ | ✕ |
| Window and screen safe | ✓ | ✕ |
| Suitable for tile and shingle roofs | ✓ | ✕ |
| Won't force water into cracks or behind siding | ✓ | ✕ |
| Kills algae and mildew, so regrowth is slower | ✓ | ✕ |
| Best choice for driveways, concrete and pavers | ~ | ✓ |
Why not use one method for everything?
Pressure alone is efficient on concrete, but the same force that strips years of grime off a driveway will strip paint off siding, crack a window, or lift roof tiles. Soft washing is gentler and kills growth at the root, but it isn't built to blast grease and tire marks off a garage floor. We carry the equipment and cleaning agents for both, and use whichever one the surface in front of us actually calls for.
